What is the Affordable Warmth Scheme?

The Eco Affordable Warmth Scheme was introduced by the government to assist and support individuals and families who are from low-income backgrounds.

It allows them to gain access to a grant that then gives them a free boiler replacement. This was done with the aim of helping lower the expenses incurred as a result of warming their houses and reducing the carbon footprint of old inefficient boilers. The `Big Six` utility companies, which are the UK`s six biggest energy providers, British Gas, EDF Energy, E.ON UK, Npower, Scottish Power and SSE are required to provide grants through the government Eco Scheme so that individuals that need to can increase the efficiency of their homes. This includes grants for new boilers and insulation. Due to the funding being a grant, not a loan, there is no repayment, which means it is FREE.

Would you qualify for the scheme?

In order to be eligible, you must be the homeowner, or be a tenant in a private rented property and be receiving one of the benefits below which are registered at that address. You may qualify if somebody staying in that house gets one of the benefits recorded below.
