First Time Central Heating grants

Having a central heating system is a great way of lowering your energy prices, as modern central heating boilers are much more energy-efficient than old boilers and electric storage heaters. Central heating systems can save over 25% of your annual gas bills. By installing a central heating system, you also can increase the sale value of your home, and having an efficient and effective heating systems in the home can have a very positive and lasting impact on the environment by reducing the emission of greenhouse gasses.

What Are The Heating Grants About?

First Time Central Heating Grants (FTCH) are provided by the government as an initiative to help stop fuel poverty and to reduce carbon emissions throughout the UK. The government has a plan to reduce carbon emissions to Net 0% by the year 2050m, which has significant benefits for the environment. If you or your tenant receives a qualifying benefit and have any of the following heating systems listed below, you could be eligiable for FREE First time central heating.
  • Electric room heaters
  • Fan heaters
  • Inefficient electric storage heaters
  • Gas room heaters
  • Gas fire with back boiler
  • Solid fossil fuel fire with back boiler
  • Electric underfloor or ceiling heating (not part of an electric boiler)
  • Bottled LPG room heating
  • Solid fossil fuel room heaters
  • Wood/biomass room heating
  • Oil room heaters

Would you qualify for the scheme?

In order to be eligible, you must be the homeowner, or be a tenant in a private rented property and be receiving one of the benefits below which are registered at that address. You may qualify if somebody staying in that house gets one of the benefits recorded below. → Income-Related Employment Support Allowance → Income Support or Universal Credit → Industrial Injuries Disablement Benefit → Personal Independence Payment (PIP) → Severe Disablement Allowance → War Pensions Mobility Supplement or Armed Forces Independence Payment → Pension Guarantee Credit → Working Tax Credit or Income-Based Jobseekers Allowance → Carer’s Allowance → Child Benefit or Child Tax Credit → Constant Attendance Allowance or Attendance Allowance → Disability Living Allowance
